Saudi Arabia: 10,000 working women benefit from transport programme

Abu Dhabi: The number of beneficiaries of the Human Resources Development Fund’s (Hadaf) transportation programme for Saudi women employees has reached 10,000, local media reported.

Beneficiaries of the programme receive an 80 per cent discount on the cost of each trip. This is after the ceiling of subsidy has been increased to SR1,100 a month for beneficiaries with a monthly salary not exceeding SR6,000 and SR800 for beneficiaries with a monthly salary of SR6,001-SR8,000.

The programme aims to find solutions that reduce the burden of transportation costs for Saudi women workers in the private sector by providing them with subsidies from Hadaf for high-quality, safe and secure transportation services to and from the workplace, partnering with taxi companies through licensed smart apps.

The programme aims to increase the participation of women in the labor market and increase job stability.

The service is provided through companies licensed by the Ministry of Transport. Saudi women wishing to participate as vehicle leaders can join the accredited companies, and the programme covers 13 regions: Riyadh, Mecca, the Eastern Province, Madinah, Tabuk, Asir, Qassim, Hail, Jazan, Najran, Al Jawf, and Al Baha.

Women working in the private sector, who meet the conditions, can sign up to the Wusool programme.
